Prayer updates for Wednesday, October 11, 2017

Please keep these prayer requests in mind as you come before God in prayer today:

Update: Ron and Elaine De Young request your prayers for their son, Jeff DeYoung, who will have abdominal aortic aneurysm repair surgery on Monday at the Meijer Heart Center.  This surgery will replace the aorta from the diaphragm to the lower abdomen with a synthetic tube to remove the three aneurysms he has in this section of his aorta.  The surgery will last from 8 to 10 hours and will cause the kidneys and the intestines to temporarily shut down.   He will be in the hospital for a minimum of 10 days followed by three months of total restrictions at home and several months after that for a full recovery.  There are several significant risk factors involved with this surgery.  Please be in prayer for Jeff and for his whole family.

We express our Christian Sympathies to the Niewenhuis Family in the passing of Rev. Calvin Niewenhuis, who went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 8.  Rev. Niewenhuis faithfully served the Lord as a pastor in the Christian Reformed Church for over 37 years.  We give thanks to God for his life and ministry, especially for the years that Rev. Niewenhuis served as our pastor at Noordeloos CRC (1984-89).  Please pray for hope of Christ to comfort the Niewenhuis Family in their time of grief.  Visitation will be held from 6-8 PM on Friday, October 13, at Yntema Funeral Home.  The funeral service will be at 12:00 PM on Saturday, October 14, at North Street CRC in Zeeland.

We praise the Lord for the birthdays that Hazel Kiekintveld and Jason Walters celebrated on Sunday. We pray for God to bless Hazel and Jason this week and for the joy of the Lord to be with each of them in the year to come.

Please pray for Fred Zeeff as he endured PET scan last Friday to look for answers as to why Fred is experiencing decreased oxygen levels. Pray for God to be with Fred the breathing troubles he has been experiencing are very tiring.  Pray for God to provide answers and a possible solution for treatment that will improve Fred’s condition.

Please pray for Clayton Rouwhorst and his parents, Jon and Jenn Rouwhorst, as Clayton was seen by specialists in Ann Arbor last week to assess his ongoing trouble with aspiration.   Pray for God’s peace and patience to be with the Rouwhorsts as they wait for results and for the doctors to determine the next steps.

Please pray for John Kortman as he fell a little over a week ago and broke five ribs. Pray for God’s healing touch to be on John so that the pain will subside quickly and so that John can make a full recovery.  Pray for God to be with John and grant him encouragement in this time of recovery.
