Prayer updates for Thursday, December 21, 2017

Reminder: Please join us in celebrating our Savior’s birth on Christmas morning as we gather for the Christmas Day Service on Monday at 9:30 am. Please also note the worship schedule for Sunday, December 24th. We will gather for worship on Sunday morning, the 4th Sunday in Advent, and will hear the message titled “The Sign of the Star” based on Matthew 2:1-12. Please note, however, that there will be no evening service this Sunday, December 24. It is our prayer that you will enjoy gathering with family as we prepare to celebrate our Savior’s birth on Christmas Day.

Please keep these prayer requests in mind as you come before God in prayer today:

We celebrate with Matt and Kari Nienhuis in the birth of a beautiful little girl, Ava Faith Nienhius (weighing 9 lbs 15oz and measuring 21 ¼ inches long), who was welcomed in to the world on Tuesday night. We praise the Lord for a safe delivery and for the news that both mom and baby are doing well. Pray for God to be with the Nienhuis family in this exciting time and for God to bless them with a smooth transition as they welcome Ava into their family.

Update: We celebrate with Andy and Meg Luster-Bartz in the birth of a precious daughter, Grace Noelle Luster-Bartz (weighing 6 lbs and measuring 19 inches long), who was born on Tuesday evening. We give thanks to God for a safe and healthy delivery. Pray for God to surround the Luster-Bartz family with his love as they welcome Grace into their family and for God to bless them in this exciting time.

We give thanks to God for answered prayers for the Gerritsma family as Bradley Gerritsma was released from DeVos Children’s Hospital on Sunday night. We praise God for the news that Bradley has continued to feel a little better each day this week. Pray for God to be with Bradley and provide him the grace, strength, and help he needs to make a full recovery.

Please pray for safe travels for Alicia Vander Wal as she is returning home from The Gambia this week. Please continue to pray for Alicia as her two-year commitment with the Peace Corps has been completed, but also as Alicia has decided to sign on for another year working with the The Peace Corps and the National Nutrition Agency of The Gambia. Pray for God to bless Alicia with a great visit with family and friends for the short time she will be home and for the Lord to be with her as she prepares to continue her work in The Gambia after the first of the year.

We praise the Lord for the birthday that Ruth Knap will celebrate on Saturday. We give thanks for the many years God has given to Ruth and we pray for God to be with her a she celebrates her birthday this week.

Please pray for Lena Hanegraaff as the resent episode with her heart showed that Lena’s health is declining and it also seems to have progressed her memory troubles. Lena will likely be moving to a memory care unit in the couple of weeks. Pray for God to give wisdom to the family as they try to find the best way to care for Lena. Pray also for the Lord to grant Lena daily strength in her time of need.

Please be in prayer for all those at Noordeloos Church who mourn the loss of loved ones during the Holiday Season, or who struggle with seasonal depression at this time of year. Pray for God to comfort them and to remind them of the abiding presence and love of their Savior, Jesus Christ.
