Prayer updates for Thursday, April 5, 2018

Please keep these prayer requests in mind as you come before God in prayer today:

Update: We praise the Lord for the news that Joy Morren shares that her father, Art Bouwkamp, is doing well after the surgery he endured on Wednesday to remove a brain tumor.  The surgeon was pleased with the surgery and was able to remove most, if not all, of the tumor.   Pray for God’s healing grace to be with Art as he recovers from surgery and pray for the biopsy results to show that the tumor is not cancerous.  May the love of Christ be an encouragement and strength to Art and his family in this time of waiting.

We express our Christian Sympathies to Kevin and Sarah Mokma in the passing of Sarah’s grandfather, Jay Scholten, who went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 29.  Family and friends gathered for the funeral service on Monday morning at Twelfth Ave CRC in Jenison.  Pray for the love of Christ and the hope of eternal life to be a comfort to Sarah and her family in this sad time of loss.

Please for Val Avink as she will fly out on Friday to return to Children of the Promise in Haiti. We give thanks for the time Val was able to spend at home with family and friends and we pray for the Lord to grant her safe traveling mercies on Friday. Pray for God to be with Val as she continues her work at CotP with finances and as a house parent.  Pray also for the Lord to provide for Val as she moves through her adoption process.

We praise the Lord for the 50th wedding anniversary that Ron and Sheila Wiersma celebrated on Monday and the 56th wedding anniversary that Ken and Sharon Machiela celebrated on Tuesday. We give thanks for the many years of marriage that God has given to the Wiersmas and the Machielas and pray for the Lord to bless them with many more good years to come.

We praise the Lord for the birthday that John Groenewoude celebrates on Friday. We give thanks for John and pray for the love of the Lord and the love of family and friends to surround him on his special day.

Please pray for God to be with those who are traveling over Spring Break. Pray for God to grant safe traveling mercies and for God to bless each family with quality time apart from the distractions and busyness of their regular routines.

Please pray for the members of our church who are facing Ongoing Health Concerns. We have several members who of various ages who face the impact of health struggles on a daily basis. Pray for the Lord to grant them courage and assurance in the midst of their afflictions and for the kindness and love of Christ to be made tangible through the love and concern our church family.
