Prayer updates for Friday, October 20, 2017

Please keep these prayer requests in mind as you come before God in prayer today:

Update: Please continue to pray for steady recovery for Jeff De Young. Wednesday was a rough day with a fever and touch of pneumonia setting in. Overnight these issues were improving slightly. He will remain in ICU until these issues are resolved and the epidural for pain management can be removed. Give thanks that other aspects of this surgery and recovery seem to be going as well as can be expected.

Please pray for Ken Van Woerkom as he will endure an outpatient procedure today.  Pray for the procedure to go as planned and for Ken to remain free of infection so that he can make a quick recovery.

We praise God for a great beginning to Mission Emphasis Week as we were challenged on Sunday morning with a great message by Rev. Nate Bull to be people of prayer. In the evening, Rev. Lee Khang pointed us back to the excellency Christ, in whom is life and light. Please pray for God’s blessing as we continue to think about Missions this week. At Family Night on Wednesday, we had an opportunity to meet and hear from missionaries with Wycliffe Bible Translators, Corey and Amy Havlicek, who are preparing to go to Mexico to help update Bible translations. Next Sunday, we will welcome Dr. Rev. Gary Bekker to the pulpit. Gary is the director of the Timothy Leadership Training Institute. He will preach a message based on Acts 13:13-52 titled Salvation to the Ends of the Earth. Pray for the Holy Spirit to open our hearts so that we might hear and heed God’s call on our lives to fulfill the Great Commission.

We express our Christian Sympathies to Dan and Michelle Koop in the passing of Dan’s mother, Janet Koop, who went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 12. Pray for God’s loving presence to comfort the Koop family in this time of loss even as they rejoice in the comfort of knowing that Janet’s faith has now become sight in the presence of her Savior.

We praise the Lord for the successful knee replacement surgery that Carolyn Van Hill endured on Monday. Carolyn will remain in the hospital for another day or two in recovery. Pray for God’s healing grace to be on Carolyn and for God to provide her daily strength as she begins physical therapy.

Please pray for Ken Knap as he fell on Friday and cracked a bone in his leg. Ken will be following up with his doctor this week to see if the injury will require more medical attention. Pray for God’s healing grace to be upon Ken so that his leg heals quickly and so he can make a full recovery.

Update: Please pray for Fred Zeeff as he endured a lung biopsy on Thursday. Pray for God to be with Fred as he has decided to do radiation trestment for the cancerous mass on his lung. Pray for God’s healing grace to be with Fred as he undergoes radiation and for Fred and Edna to find encouragement and strength through their faith in Christ in this difficult time.

We praise the Lord for the 68th wedding anniversary that Gerald and Louise Ortman celebrate today. We give thanks for the many years of marriage that God has blessed Gerald and Louise with and we pray for God’s blessings to be with them in the years to come.

Please pray for our local supported missionaries: Barnabas Ministries, Jody Winstrom—Teen Parent Resources (Holland/Zeeland), Rev. Scott Stark—Campus Ministry at GVSU, and Jordan Palladino—Campus Ministry at WMU. Pray for God to bless each of them in their ministry as they share the message of Christ with teens in our community and college students on the campuses of GVSU and WMU.
