Prayer updates for Monday, November 14, 2016

Please keep these prayer requests in mind as you come before God in prayer today:

We praise the Lord for the birthday that Barb Walters celebrates on Thursday. We give thanks for the love and faithfulness God has shown in Barb’s life and we pray for God to bless Barb with joyful celebration this week and good health in the year to come.

We praise the Lord for the good report Kaylee Kouw received from the MRI she endured last week showing no new growths at the tumor site. We praise the Lord for this good report and pray for God to be with Kaylee and for God to bless her with continued good health.

We praise the Lord for abundant crops and the safety he has provided for our Farmers throughout this year and we pray for God’s care and blessing to be on them as they bring in the harvest and finish out this growing season.

We praise the Lord for the news that Steve Tiesenga, our supported missionary in Uganda, was released from the hospital in Kenya last Friday and is making good progress in his recovery from Malaria. Pray for God to be with the Tiesenga family and for God’s healing grace to be with Steve so that he can make a full recovery.

Update: Please pray for Anne Nagelkerk‘s sister, Louise, as she is suffering from kidney failure and has been placed under Hospice care. Pray for God’s comforting presence to be with Louise, Anne, and the rest of their family and for the love of Christ to be evident in this difficult time of need.

Update: Please pray for Tim Hoffman, Joy Morren’s nephew, as he will endure a surgery some time this week to replace a bone flap on his skull. Pray for the surgery to go as planned and for God’s presence to give peace to the Hoffman family as Tim continues to recover from the injuries he sustained in the accident he was in over the summer.

Please pray for the many families that have been impacted by the Flooding in Northern Haiti after heavy rains last weekend. Pray for the rain and the flooding to subside quickly and for God to be with Val Avink, the Mokmas, and the rest of the staff at Children of the Promise as they work to repair any damages caused by the flooding. Pray especially for God’s loving care to be with those who are suffering loss of loved ones or homes.

Prayer updates for Tuesday, November 8, 2016

Please keep these prayer requests in mind as you come before God in prayer today:

Update:  Pray for the Presidential Election as we go to the polls today. Pray for God’s wisdom to guide us as we elect new leaders and for Christians to be guided by their convictions of faith as they vote today.  Pray also for the Lord to grant us faith to trust in His sovereign rule and reign over us.

Update: Please pray for the many families that have been impacted by the Flooding in Northern Haiti after heavy rains over the weekend. We praise the Lord for the news that Val Avink, the Mokmas are doing well, but pray for the Haitian staff members who have lost homes or who are not able to get to their homes because of the flooding. Pray for the flooding to subside and for God to provide relief for those who are suffering loss in this difficult time.

We praise the Lord for the news of the successful surgery that Doris Gaunce’s daughter, Bev Bretz, endured last week to remove a mass from her mouth and for the good news that a biopsy revealed it to be non-cancerous.  Pray for God to be with Bev as she has returned home and as she continues to recover from the surgery.

Please pray for Gord Vork as he remains at MediLodge for extended care and rehabilitation after being in the hospital with an unknown infection. Pray for God’s loving presence to be a comfort and strength to Gord in his ongoing health and as he continues to mourn the loss of Marge.

As we remember Veterans Day on Friday, we give thanks to God for those who have served and sacrificed for this country. We pray for the protection of those who are currently serving in the military. Please pray for God to be with Lee Nagelkerk as he serves with the U.S. Marines and Josh Scholtens as he serves with the U.S. Navy, and Meredith Visser as she serves with the Army Reserves.

Update: Please pray for Sally Wissink as she endures a hernia surgery this afternoon at 1:00. Pray for God to be with Sally today and for the surgery to go as planned so that Sally can make a speedy and complete recovery.

Visitation will be held on Saturday from 2-2:45 pm at North Street CRC in Zeeland. Funeral services will be held at 3 pm on Saturday, November 5, at North Street CRC.

Pray for God’s comforting grace to be with the Vork and Brouwer families in this sad time of loss. A time of visitation with the family will be held tonight from 6-8pm at Dykstra Funeral Homes—Northwood Chapel (295 Douglas Ave, Holland). Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, November 1 at Noordeloos CRC.

Please pray for the Church Treats event that will take place on this evening from 5:30-7:00 PM. Pray for it to be a safe and fun event for the children in the community, and for the love of Christ to be displayed through the volunteers that will be helping out tonight.

Please pray for the Deacons as they meet on Tuesday evening. Pray for God to bless their meeting as they work to care for the church and to show the love of Christ to people in our church and our community.

Update: We express our Christian Sympathies to Gord Vork in in the passing of his wife, Marge Vork, who went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday morning. Please pray for Bev Bretz, Doris Gaunce’s daughter, as she was recently diagnosed with a rare form of mouth cancer. Pray for God to be with Bev as her surgery in Ann Arbor has been moved up Monday, October 31.  Pray for the surgery to be effective in removing the cancer so that Bev can make a full recovery.

Randy and Sheryl Luth (International Teams, India)

  • Pray for Sheryl as she is dealing with a ruptured ear drum. It is causing a good amount of pain, we saw a doctor here, and he said it would take a few months to heal.
  • Please pray for strength and boldness and God’s blessings as we start the Selah Center, a center for trafficked and forced labor children.
  • We praise God for the 48 sheep came to Crown Farms 3 weeks back, and for our first lamb that was recently was born on the farm!

Steve and Kim Holtrop (The Nehemiah Center, Nicaragua)

  • Please pray for the 24 pastors and leaders of 10 churches were trained in a healthy church planting process throughout this past year.  The training has ended with 10 new churches being planted! Pray for pastors and their families as they work together to serve their churches and communities.
  • Please pray for our Impact Clubs. Two youth in one group accepted Christ.  Pray for Carlos, a young man from another group, who is recovering from drug addiction.  Pray for the many other youth who are in situations of addiction or near addiction.  Give them the courage and peace to talk about their situation, face the challenges, and experience God’s grace and forgiveness so they can live a life of freedom!

  • We praise God for our newly formed partnership with Calvary Chapel in Soroti. Calvary Chapel is an answer to our prayers as they have the resources to take over and sustain the Beyond Pamba Resource Centre where people can come and read about Jesus. Pray for God to bless this new partnership and for God to use it to open new doors for kingdom ministry in Uganda.
  • Pray for Steve as he began a new position as the chaplain at Bethesda Hospital where he can share the Gospel and pray with patients and their families.
